SIN TIEMPO PARA LAS ARMAS

As James Herod correctly wrote in his seminal essay, Getting Free, *

Coincido con James Herod quien acertadamente escribió en su ensayo «Getting Free»: *

« . . . [I]t is impossible to defeat our ruling class by force of arms. The level of firepower currently possessed by all major governments and most minor ones is simply overwhelming. It is bought with the expropriated wealth of billions of people. For any opposition movement to think that it can acquire, maintain, and deploy a similarly vast and sophisticated armament is ludicrous . . . It would take an empire as enormous and rich as capitalism itself is to fight capitalists on their own terms. This is something the working classes of the world will never have, nor should we even want it.

« . . . [E]s imposible vencer a nuestra clase gobernante mediante la fuerza de las armas. Actualmente, el poder armamentista de los grandes gobiernos, y la mayoría de los pequeños, es simplemente avasallador. Ese armamento se adquiere con la riqueza saqueada a millones de personas en el mundo. Que algún movimiento en resistencia considere que puede adquirir, mantener, y movilizar armamentos en cantidades importantes y de manera similar es completamente ridículo. . . Se requiere un imperio tan grande y tan rico como el mismo capitalismo en sus propios términos. Esto es algo que las clases trabajadoras nunca deben tener, ni siquiera aspirar a tener.

This does not mean though that we should not think strategically, in order to win, and defeat our oppressors. It means that we have to learn how to destroy them without firing a single shot. It means that we have to look to, and invent if necessary, other weapons, other tactics. »

Esto no significa que no deberíamos pensar en términos de estrategia, a fin de vencer, y derrotar a nuestros opresores. Esto significa que tenemos que aprender a desmantelar el sistema sin tener que disparar un solo disparo. Esto significa que tenemos que buscar, e inventar si es necesario, otras armas, otras tácticas.
